Welcome! Today, let's discuss "Silent Killer" consumed by us daily. It is part of most of our food items including morning tea to dessert after dinner. It's nothing but Sugar. Yes, you got it right! Sugar is our "Sweet little Silent Killer". Sugar is an integral part of our food consumed by almost every Indian right from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
However, this sugar is a slow killer. It slowly accumulates in your body to make your body weak. Eventually, we start having different illnesses like diabetes, cholesterol which may even lead to Heart Attack in some cases. Believe me, Sugar is the main culprit. So the first thing that you should try to do is to cut back the Sugar.
What do we now replace our Sugar with? The answer is "Jaggery". Yes, Jaggery has many benefits not only does it helps in getting rid of illnesses but it also boosts digestion. You may now say that both Sugar and Jaggery are the byproduct of Sugarcane, then what is so different about Jaggery. Well, Sugar requires a way more complicated process which involves 23 different types of chemicals. Whereas Jaggery is made by simply boiling sugarcane juice and cow milk is added to remove any impurity that too on need basis.
Another important thing to note is that our stomach needs efforts to digest Sugar, whereas Jaggery stimulates digesting the food we eat.
Jaggery too should be consumed in its natural form. The one which we get in our fancy supermarkets is yellow in colour is made by processing it with some unwanted chemicals so that it looks attractive. The best jaggery is dark brown in colour like the one in the below photo:
So please include this dark brown Jaggery in your life and not sugar. This is very much possible as we have ourselves already implemented since lockdown and trust me we are doing great and are not missing out on anything.
