Water (Audio inside)
In these two audios, I will talk about water - the best time to drink it and which water is best. Please do implement these to experience the miraculous benefits.
Today’s subject is very important - “Water”. As we all know, the entire world of life has originated from water and there is no life without water.
In Vedic wisdom, the entire world is considered as Mahasagar (great ocean) and every living entity must traverse this ocean. The better or purer the water, the more balance in life. Even in Vedic Culture, water is treated holy and called “Tirtha”.
How and When we should drink?
- Early morning: As per Ayurveda, early morning “Ushapan” (Usha – Morning and Pan – Water) is a must and very useful for our body. As soon as we get up in the morning, we must drink at least 3 glasses of water. Now let me tell you, we must sip the water so that maximum Saliva mixes with water that we drink. We have seen animals curing their wounds by salivating them. This is because even they understand that Saliva is very crucial for curing and preventing illnesses.
- Water before and after food: We must drink water at least 40 minutes before having our food and 1 hour 30 minutes after having food, strictly no water while eating. You can have 1-2 sips in between if you have a combination of food, e.g. if you are having chapati and rice together then you must have a couple of sips between your chapati and rice.
- Permissible right after lunch is mattha/Chaas, during breakfast you can have fresh fruit juices or coconut water. Dinner you can have desi cow milk. This is only if you cannot stay without a water body for the mentioned time above.
- Avoid eating in between meals
The reason behind this ritual is that when we have our first bite, Jatharagni (Agni-Bio Energy, Jathar – Stomach) lights up and if you drink water, it can slow it down which will in-turn will stop digesting your food. Please note, when the water mixed with curd or any other food, it changes its basic characteristic, and hence it is okay to drink Chaas/Mattha or milk.
Which Water is Best?
- Best water to drink is Rainwater. The recommendation is to plan and store rainwater (only from the rainy season) for drinking.
- The second-best water to drink is river water, it is again natural water and stored naturally.
- Then comes the water that we get from the well.
- Lastly, Municipal Water. It is last on our list as we do not know the condition where this is stored, the long-distance it traveled before it reached us. All this may lose its good properties.
RO Water: Lastly, we all have Water Purifier at our homes. RO is a great technology for getting seawater filtered for our consumption. When it comes to the water that we have at home, we must check the TDS of the same. If the TDS is below 300 then you can just boil the water and consume it. If the TDS is higher than 300, then you can opt for UF and UV water filters which will suffice our need. RO filter basically, removes bad properties along with good properties from the water, and what remains is just plain liquid.
Culture
the Water before consuming:
In Vedic culture, it is also very important to ‘culture’ the water (sanskaar) for a purpose. The practice of putting gold in contact with water for drinking is a way to use gold as a medium to culture the water with the vibration and properties of gold. Such cultured water is very beneficial when we drink it.
- Copper – Rainy Season It helps in improving your immune and digestive system and helps in weight loss
- Gold – Winter Season. You can add gold coins in the water vessel and consume the water, this helps to increase the warmth in your body during the winter season. It increases stamina, strengthens the nervous system, and even beneficial for arthritis. Even it can help for depression. (P.S. Please do not consume gold)
- Clay pot – Summer Season The alkaline nature of the clay pot helps to keep Vata and pitta calm and also keeps water cool during the summer season.
It is advisable to take a break from above practice after three months since too much of anything is also not good.
Very much informative
